There are a handful of annual events in Phuket, many of them centered around Phuket Old Town. If you’re on the island on these days, don’t miss the chance to experience these festivals!
Vegetarian Food Festival Phuket : The nine-day festival during the ninth lunar month of the Chinese calendar (usually mid-October) is famous – or infamous? for its extreme self-mutilation rituals. The festivities centre around Phuket Old Town, with the main passage in front of the hotel, making The Blanket an ideal choice to experience the extreme shows of devotion in this spirited festival.
Songkran Festival Phuket : Perhaps most joyous of all Thai festival, Songkran marks the Thai New Year from 13 to 15 April. Traditionally, it’s a time to pay respect to elders, but the festival also provides the perfect excuse to make merry with water splashing. From our boutique hotel in Phuket Old Town, a good water fight is only a short stroll away
Loy Krathong Phuket : Thailand’s romantic “Festival of Lights” is celebrated on the full moon in the 12th lunar month. The traditional festival is marked at Buddhist temples around Phuket, but the most atmospheric is the launching of kratong – floating vessel with candles – on waterways around the island.
